Kiteboarding instructors choose to teach with the International Kiteboarding Organization because it is not only the largest organization, with thousands of certified instructors, but because it is also the only certification offered in the USA that is recognized internationally.
Other systems may claim to be accepted elsewhere, but only IKO is recognized in over 40 countries. It is the industry standard that has actual Instructor Training Courses offered in 40 countries and it is also available in four languages, as well as reciprocity agreements with other national training schemes. IKO certification is also recognized be many government agencies as a qualification for work/travel visa requirements.
Only IKO instructors can issue IKO Certification Cards to their students. IKO Kiteboarder Cards are the most widely recognized certification card internationally and are required to kite in many locations especially in Europe and increasingly in the US. IKO Kiteboarder Certification Cards and are required to rent equipment in many places. IKO Kiteboarder certification cards are becoming necessary as more beaches become restricted due to competing access.
